Want to know what you need to use the
Talk121 online chatroom or are having
difficulties using the chat room software on
your computer? This page should help answer
your technical questions...
Q. What are
the minimum requirements for my computer in
order to use the Talk121 online chatroom?
A.
You will need a computer with Windows 2000 /
NT / XP, Mac OS or Linux operating system; a
recent version of a popular browser (such as
Internet Explorer, Firefox or Opera);
installed and enabled latest version of the
Java run-time environment or plug-in; color
video display; sound card (for voice chat
service); webcam (for video chat service).
Q. When I try to log into the online
chatroom, the error "Java Not Installed is
displayed, what should I do to fix this?
A.
In order to use the chatroom, you must have
a Java-enabled browser. Without a recent
version of Java installed on your computer,
the program will not be able to run. Q.
I try to establish a voice chat with another
user and I do not hear their voice or they
do not hear my voice. How can I fix this?
A.
Each of you should confirm the microphone
level and whether your microphone channel is
enabled on your soundcard's settings; and
make sure microphones are plugged in.
Speaker volume, soundcard master volume and
WAVE channel volume should all be checked,
and if the speakers are externally powered,
check that its plugged in and powered on.
Q. When I try to establish a video
chat with another user, one or both of us do
not get a video picture of the other. What
can I do about this?
A. The best place to start looking is the
webcam, checking to make sure it is
functioning normally. Usually webcams
include software that allows you to take
snapshots or videos with them, trying seeing
if you can use the webcam with that
software. If not, there is most likely a
problem with your drivers, configuration or
hardware. Q. Sometimes when I am in the
chatroom I get disconnected, why is wrong?
A. If you are idol in the chatroom for
longer than 2 hours, the system will
automatically disconnect your user so that
others who wish to chat can join the room.
This is to prevent overloading rooms with
users that are not participating. If you are
disconnected in such manner, you are always
welcome to log back in and continue chatting
when ready. |
